Usually 4-7 months; before he starts spraying your home. but is strong enough for the anesthetic.

Most of the answers you have received have been spot on and i have just literally, in the last 5 days, had my 5 month old kitten neutered - it was especially important for me to get him done as early as poss as well as i have an almost 4 month old female! But as the other answer said at this age they will really not notice the difference and once he got over his "grogginess" from the anesthetic he was racing around all over the place as he always does - you would never have guessed that 12 hours earlier he'd had his bits chopped off lol, good luck and well done for taking good care of your pet x

We had 2 male kittens aged 8 weeks and were advised by the vet to have them neutered at 6 months old. We had this done & one of them didn't really notice any difference but the other definitely knew something was missing!!! I think that was a good age as they were young enough not to have really discovered what their bits were for, and old enough to cope with the op & recover quickly.

5 or 6 months is perfect. Call the vet today and see if he does at 5 month (many make you wait till 6, cuz it's easier for the vet) But if the vet will do it at 5, no point in waiting!
He should absolutely be done before he turns 7 months old. This should guarante that he will never spray!!
Thank you for being a responsible pet owner!!

Cats can be spayed or neutered as early as 8 weeks old as long as they weigh 2 pounds or more. From that point on, for a normal, healthy kitten, there is no medical reason to delay the surgery. In fact, neutering can help reduce the risk that your cat will develop certain medical problems (see below link).
Huge props to you for being a responsible pet owner, I wish everyone was!!

Most vets prefer to do it around 6 months of age. It's best to get it done early so he doesn't start spraying (some cats once they start don't stop even after they've been neutered). I'd call your vet now to make the appointment, I know it took our vet about 3 weeks to work us in.

Call your vet. If he will do it now, get it done. Most vets will perform the procedure between 4 and 6 months of age. Don't delay. The longer you wait, the greater the chance Kitty's hormones will kick in and he will begin exhibiting undesirable behaviors. Roaming, fighting, aggression, spraying, etc. So, in this case, the saying "the sooner the better" really does fit! Good luck!

I was 37 last time I had a cat neutered.
(lol)
I have another kitten now who is about 4 months, so I'm planning to soon... I've always heard 5 - 7 months, which is about how old the last one was. (I still have him too, btw.)

We got ours from the cats protection league and they have told us to get him neutered at 5 months. He's going in on the 16th September!

For any cat, as soon as the vet will neuter/spay. Usually it is about six months or when the cat is a certain weight.

The vet advised me to get my male cat done around the 5/6 month mark so you should be thinking about getting it done pretty soon.
