I got my cats one afew days ago, and so far they've completly ignored it. They still prefer the armchair. They also have a scratching post, but they mostly play and sleep on it and like furniture and the carpet on the floor better.

I put a lot of catnip on it, and I try my best to carry them to the scratching post and scratcher every time.

There's nowhere to buy cat repellent in my town.

Yeah- I know exactly what you mean. I have the exact same scratching post and they've scratched on it maybe 3 times. I've tried re-directing them to where they are "supposed" to scratch. And, like you, mine prefer to use the armchair. I also bought one of those scratch pads you lay on the floor- they completely ignored it. I've put double-sided tape on the areas they'd scratch, but then they'd just decide to scratch another spot. So, unless I want all my furniture and mattresses covered in tape, they always found a place to scratch.

I may be a lazy owner, but I find it much easier on me and the kittens to just take them to the vet to get their nails clipped every other week.

Might try sprinkling a little Catnip on it and right around it. Cats love that stuff for some reason. Then at the same time get some cat repellent and spray it on the chair. See if that works.
Just picking them up and telling them No?! No?! when they are using the armchair as a scratcing post doesn't work. They will go right back to the armchair:
Reason: To prove to you what is their's is their's and what's your's is their's.
