My mom has always made macaroni salad this way:

1/2 box elbows, cooked, drained, and rinsed under cold water
1 can tuna fish drained
1/2 cup or more mayonaisse
frozen peas
1 small onion, chopped finely
cheddar cheese, cut up in cubes

It's an old worn out recipe I'm sure, but it's always good with hotdogs and hamburgers.

My uncle has a recipe using bow tie pasta, mayo and sour cream, crab leg pieces, dill, red pepper, celery, salt and pepper.

I like to make mine with bow tie pasta, sun dried tomatos, gorgonzola cheese, and olive oil.

Rotini Pasta
Cherry Tomatoes
Fresh Broccoli Florets
Mozzerella Cheese cut into cubes
Bacon Bits
Italian Dressing

Cook the pasta, drain and cool. Next add the broccoli, tomatoes and cheese cubes. Toss with the Italian dressing. Sprinkle real bacon bits over the top right before serving for a little extra crunch.

Pasta
Veggies
Salad dressing

Ta-da!

My preferences are for spiral or shell pasta; thinly sliced carrots, green onions, tomatos (cherry or sun-dried), and/or artichoke hearts OR steamed broccoli; green or kalamata olives; and olive oil and vinegar dressing. I also like to add feta or parmesan cheese. Capers, too, if I have them.
