It depends on how old I was and how he hurt me, if I'm a kid and he spanked me then there's not really much I can do, but if I'm older and he is punching me or something similar, I would tell my mom and/or call the cops. There is a boundary to discipline. Kids are not punching bags.

This is a serious issue. It's unacceptable that anyone would physically hurt anyone else. That is not normal, nor should you put up with it.
Now, since we don't know your age or situation, it's hard to be too specific. First, is your Mom around? Can you speak to her? Or does he also hit her? Someone mentioned speaking to aunts, uncles, grandparents. That's one option. Before I reported him - and I'm not saying don't report - I would look in the phone book for some sort oh helpline. They can give you all kinds of advice on resources available to you in your local area. And it's free.
The help line can also help you contact authorities and perhaps get help for everyone in your family and not just discipline. But remember: NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO HURT YOU WHATEVER YOUR AGE! Sure they may feel terrible afterwards, but saying nothing doesn't make it stop. You need to speak to someone so that all of you - including your father - can get help. Good luck.

When I was younger, I probably wouldn't have done anything. Children are typically afraid to say anything because they're afraid they will get into trouble. As an adult though, I see where that thought process is flawed. When an adult physically hurts a child, they are the ones in trouble and the situation needs to be turned in. I would go to an adult that you trust and explain what happened, then go from there.

If your father is abusing you, rather than spanking for punishment, then you need to tell a responsible adult that you trust. If you do not have someone you can go to, or if that person does not help you, then contact the Department of Child & Family Services/Child Protective Services or the police.

If your dad is physically hurting you, you need to talk to an adult you trust, such as your mom, grandparent or a teacher. How is he hurting you? Are you two playing and it going too far, or is he punishing you for not obeying him? Maybe you could talk to him too and let him know what he's doing to you hurts. He may not realize it. I hope this helps you.

Depends on context and violence. If he was out of reason, not saying a slight one, and used violenc I could never forgive and forget, although would maybe get him a special "room" in my heart for pity. And far from him in time and space would try to make the possible bridges if he showed sorrow and respect.

i would talk to someone who i trusted and was older so they could help me figure out what to do. As a child your mind isn't able to make decisions like whether or not to talk to authorities about the situation. Talk to an adult your trust, it can be a family member or not. Find someone to talk to and change the situation. Good luck!

Back when I was growing up I just cried and tried not to do again what I did to be hurt in the first place. Back then too when coaches or teachers smacked you around, when you went home, they didn't get furious at the coach, you were asked if you had learned your lesson...

are you joking? Not funny! It would be the last time. I would find someone to help me, an adult that could raise me in a loving home. Grandparent, aunt or uncle? Get help, talk to you school teachers.

If my father had actually abused us, mom would have killed him. She knows where to cut as well (she's a doc lol). If it were to be in my teenage years and he was attempting to abuse me, I'd either threaten his sleep or I'd take it upon myself to walk down to the hospital, file a report for the bruising and had him hauled off.
