Somewhere along the way you should have had the opportunity to catch up to others your age. Grade school isn't all that complicated.. The question is whether you did catch up. Can you be tested to see if you can handle 9th grade level work?

But, please keep in mind that all this time, all of your school mates are in the same grade you've been in. Do you really have many friends in the 9th grade? I had an 8th grader in your situation, who wanted to go up a grade, but when he started naming all his best friends, they were all 8th graders. Finally, he decided he'd rather be with them.

It might work out better for you to go up a grade when you move on to high school. For that, you need to be taking advanced classes now. Talk with your counselor about what classes you need to be taking (and passing!) to be promoted an extra grade. Good luck.

There are plenty of 14, 15 and even 16 year olds in 8th grade. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd be more worried about the fact that as an 8th grader, your school has failed to teach you the difference between "too" and "to." I used to teach middle school, and that's something that should be second nature to you by now. You either need to be in a better school or you need some additional tutoring.

Just means you graduate when you are 19 no big deal when you get to high school youi will have older people in your class I was oldest in my class until highschool. I did not graduate unti lI was 19 cause I quit first year of grade 12 but was pretty cool cause once you turn 18 you can write your own absentee notes. And in Canada drinking age is 19 so once I turned 19 I could go to the bar for lunch and sometimes not go back to school:) anyway dont worry about it.

No you are not and a lot of kids get held back in kindergarten and first grade, no big deal. You also have a winter birthday so you would have been closer to 6 when you started kindergarten that factors in also. My kids are winter babies also so they are a bit older than some of the kids.

Hi there. Sweetie, you are only ONE year older than everyone else. In some states in the U.S., you cannot start school UNLESS your 5th birthday is before the first day that school starts. There are a lot of 6 year olds starting school as kindergardeners because of this and no one cares about it. As far as anyone knows, you started school as a 6 year old in kindergarden. You are just fine. Try not to stress about it. God bless you.

You will be OK, as on average, students complete finish school when they are 20. I was the youngest in the 8th grade as I skipped Kindegarten so I started 1st grade when I was 5.

I was 15 when I was in the 8th grade!!!! I dont think its too old....but would you rather be older or younger than the rest of your peers??? I personally would rather be older...besides...when u get to high school...you will get to drive before your friends...so think about it like that...

Lots of parents wait to put their kindergarteners in school until they are six. That would put them starting 8th grade at age 14. So, I doubt you are the lone ranger.
