It's the unique thing about man. He has the potential for good as well as bad. The infant is bad in the sense that it is born all ego. Totally selfish. Just wants its needs met or it gets upset and cries. But like an acorn that can become a mighty oak, look at the infant and see the limitless potential, and that's a good thing.

Infants definitely can be good OR bad depending on their personality, just as there are good or bad people. Of course, it can seem like they're bad-even though they're good-because they learn from their parents to act accordingly, but there's still the chance the he really is (bad).

For example, my uncle in Israel has 6 children. His wife is the sort of person who is sure to give anyone a cold look at first sight, if you know what I mean (kind of a cool personality, cool as in cold). So a few years ago she would always tell and command him to smack them for every single tiny little thing that they did wrong. Of course, after a while he convinced her that it was wrong to do so, but the younger son, who is now around 5-6 years old learned from his father to hit people. So right now he's a very violent little kid who likes to hit everyone for everything that they do that bothers him, and has gained his mother's personality.

Ok, so this kid obviously only hits because of his father a few years ago, but he can be good inside, or he can really be all that bad. His younger sister is a really good little child, and always plays with her even younger sister, though sometimes she too can seem bad when she learns from her brother to hit (though not as much).

So basically, Infants are just like anyone else, but with their inner personalities more hidden.

Sorry if my answer wasn't exactly after what you mean, but I tried at least! Good luck!

Inherently human with the ability to do both, but born under the influence of the fall, and needing salvation at the age of accountability. Which I think is 13.

An infant is neither good nor bad because those character traits are adult inventions. An infant must be taught what it's parents and the society in which they live considers good behavior and bad behavior.

Neither. An infant knows nothing except for its selfish needs. If its needs are not met, it can develop into a selfish person. If it has psychological problems, such as sociopathic tendencies, it could become a very bad person. But it starts out as an emply slate.

Bad.

Babies have adorable faces (generally) for a reason, and I really believe it is to make parents or caregivers think of how precious, fragile and cute they are after the 22 straight hour of colic so they aren't abandoned by the side of a road.

Never in my life, have I met a baby that did not work my last nerve. Not even my own, I'm unbiased on this. Honestly, I thnk god should have intelligently designed babies to be mute until the age of 5.

A baby is inherently good and completely innocent but not a saint or an angel. A baby human with two baby wolves. Years later this human will have decisions:

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.

"One is evil -- he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

"The other is good -- he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

"This same fight is going on inside you -- and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,

"Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

IMHO A baby is the closest we ever are to God in the physical world. The baby has just left God to take up the physical experience. If you look into a baby's eyes you will see the wisdom of the Universes. They know everything at birth. By the time they can talk they have forgotten.

Because of the fall, all men and women since Adam (and excluding Jesus) are born with a propensity toward sin. It's simply in our nature. But we're also a product of our environment, so if a child is reared in a way that allows them to overcome this natural bent toward sin, then he/she can overcome it. But with no one to care for and discipline the child in the way that God wants them to grow, will naturally slide toward sin and disobedience.
