1)don't be afraid to ask questions.
2)focus on your work.
3)try to have fun.
4)find a fellow student to be your study partner-preferable someone who is in your classes. This way you can call them to catch up on missed work OR if you have an question.
5)try to do all your homework at school. and review and rewrite your notes at night before going to bed.
6)don't study with the TV or radio on. get your work done. use the TV or radio as a reward for completing your homework.
7)ask your teachers questions about your work and ask them to give you specific examples of exactly what you dont understand- this means you try to do the work yourself, and show the teacher where you are having a problem, then they can step you through it.
8) be neat - not sloppy. take it slow and methodical.
9) READ as much as possible.
10) set your goals small.
11)keep a separate notebook of expected homework
AND any upcoming tests !!! I cant stress this one. Most kids procrastinate on homework and preparing for tests.
12) dont let your "Friends" make you do things you dont want to.
13) dont be afraid.

Remember that many others will also be nervous. Some have transferred from other schools and don't know anyone at all. Some had a difficult year the previous year. Some may have endured bullying from other classmates.

You may be nervous, but you'll have lots of company.

It's one of those things in life that you just do. I'm 54 years old and I still dislike calling people on the phone for business, especially if I don't know them. But I do it. I have to stand up and make presentations during meetings and I get nervous about that. But I do it.

There are all sorts of things like that in life. Just do it. The more often you do, the easier it is to do the next time.

Good luck in school!

Nervousness in going to a new school is a normal reaction. Most of the students who are going there for the first time are also nervous.

You will have a lot of company. That is good in a way since you start of with things in common with your classmates.

just enjoy your youth and don't take everything so seriously, although it may seem serious at the time. Take a deep breath and remember, whether you think so or not, these are gonna be some of the best days of your life. Don't put too much pressure on yourself and just relax and enjoy the experience.
