Bear with me here ...
I recieved an e-mail about a mandatory meeting. There was a section with the names of people required to go. To see the entire list, I needed to scroll down. I didn't notice that detail, so I didn't see my name.

That being said, the meeting hasn't passed, but my supervisor asked me to work an extra day. I said I would under the condition that I would not attend the meeting.

I thought it was not mandatory for me anyway. My supervisor didn't know either because he said that it was fine.

Well I think he mentioned something to our head manager because he called me and told me to attend the meeting instead of working an extra day. That's all he said though.

Now I'm worried that my head manager thinks poorly of me. I don't even see her because I work until 9am. That's when she gets in so I mostly answer to my supervisor.

These are the things that make recent college graduates realize the seriousness of carelessness in the professional world.

Well, if you haven't missed the meeting yet, I do not know that you have really slipped up. I doubt your manager has thought much about it. He just wanted to make sure you go to the meeting. I wouldn't worry about it.

That doesnt sound bad at all. You still are going to the meeting, everything should be fine. I would mention to your other manager that your head manager wishes for you to attend the meeting after all. Cover all your bases and you should be fine.
Also, remember this is just business. Try to develop a thicker skin, or else you will spend most days worried that so and so is mad at you for every little thing. Trust me, it is not worth it!

This doesn't sound like too egregious an error. Just head to the meeting. sounds like your supervisor just checked w/management to see if it was truly mandatory for you to attend - it's not like he was "narcing" on you or anything. If you truly feel like you've caused a problem for yourself with our head manager, shoot her a quick email apologizing for the misunderstanding and assuring her that you'll be happy to attend the meeting.

But again, it doesn't really sound like anything to worry about at all.

best of luck.

To redeem yourself, go to the meeting and don't let anything like this happen again. At the meeting, try to make an intelligent contribution to show interest in the company and your work.

sometimes emails are poorly written. read between the lines carefully and email back if you have questions. think it through next time. sometimes we are so rushed we don't make good decisions. slow down an plan carefully. we are all human and make mistakes. good damage control is the best defense. apologize and move on.

If that's the worst thing you've done, don't beat yourself up over it - it really isn't that big a deal.
