You will need an extensive education, and much experience before you are ready to show yourself to anyone who can help you. Those of us who are long-time professionals can make it LOOK easy, and put our audiences at rest - but trust me, it is difficult. Even short programs are difficult - which is why we resell them, and tour. You do not work that hard to do it ONCE - you only realize a profit from repetition.
My husband and I have well into 6 figures invested in fine instruments, equipment, and printed and recorded music - NOT COUNTING our educations, and 35 years of professional (that's after college - don't you love people who call *experience* everything they ever sang for Grandma since they were 2?). We are successful and respected, and make well into 6 figures a year together. It does NOT get easier - it's work every day. We are self-managed, so if we are not practicing, or rehearsing or teaching or arranging, we are on the phone or email, lining up future performances. You are only as in demand as the quality of your LAST gig - get sloppy and slow, and your phone stops ringing. I cannot afford to be seen and heard in the company of weak players - and that goes both ways.
Even if you ARE a great singer - get in line. You may think - or have been told - that you are one in a million. Reality is - you are one OF a million. That does not mean it is hopeless - but that's the fact.
