I would have to answer a loud "yes", I have been involved in Magick for over 15 years, and it has done me nothing but good, i have experienced some wonderful moments of clarity and insight during my practice and it has helped me through some troubled times. It has been my companion and the lamp that has guided my path on the road to self knowledge. The issues around magick been real or imaginary are useless and could go on forever. It is simpler to say that for some people it is a real physical experience, for others its dressing up and playing "magus", the same could be said for any religion or philosophical system. Some of the comments about magicians been "delusional" i disagree with on the whole, i admit some are, there are those who work at the magickal arts for the betterment of mankind, and those that use it as a social crutch or escape, this i agree is bad for the individual., however you should not judge all on the activities of the few. Just know that within the occult circles there are groups of magicians working for your benefit without prejudice or want of recognition, they do it because we agree to serve mankind as the universal brotherhood that it is.

Yours always in LVX.

Yes, they are very real. On the other hand, the Occult, meaning any knowledge that is sacred and hidden, is not really the occult anymore. Very little of this information is hidden, only certain esoteric mysteries are still hidden from the general public, and much of that can be figured out from study and reading some of the writings these things are hidden in. In this day and age, things that used to be occult are out in the open for anyone to see.

Very little of this is evil or has to do with the devil as others here have claimed. A great deal of this information has nothing to do with anything people say is evil, and most practictioners do not even believe in the devil.

There are three basic approaches to occult magic. The first is invocation or prayer to a supreme spirit to make things happen. Many people practice this form of magic today even if they don’t realize it. The second is invocation to multiple deities to make things happen. This was the religion of the day if you step back over 2000 years ago in history. The third is potentially the most difficult. Here the individual attempts to manifest desires psychically, spiritually, or mentally using his/her own power. The results are most difficult to prove, yet I attempt this type of magical visualization every time I hit a golf ball. To those who want to debunk occult magic as totally worthless, I can only say that history shows it was an integral part of religion and culture beyond 2000 years ago.

I studied witchcraft and the occult for 20 years... it's all just more psychological drama, playing with the inner workings of the mind, just like religion.

Yes, people have inner tools and can learn how to use them. The Occult covers a larger area of topics, including things like Loch Ness monster and UFO sightings. Few people who know how to use their inner tools worship the Devil. Working with ancient gods/goddesses isn't exactly the same as 'worshipping' them. The Devil is a Scottish varient of Satan who is a Middle Eastern diety. Most people who practice magick work with dieties from other places on earth. So, unless you think any other god or goddess is actually just the Devil in disguise, they do not worship the Devil or work with him. Just by reading the answers of others for this question, I can see so much paranoia and fear and very little actual experience. If you want to really find out, try it for yourself. Fearing something you have never looked into is fear of the unknown. It's cowardice, which isn't always bad but never looks good and is kinda childish.

The word occult just means hidden. Witchcraft is a very old way of life full of wisdom and beauty. Early Christians demonised witchcraft as an excuse to hang/burn the wise women and take their land and possessions. Look it up. It's true. Witches will not try to convert you or judge you or send you off to hell. We don't believe in hell or satan let alone worship him. People shouldn't believe everything they are told. They should check it out for themselves and then make judgments.

Occult merely means hidden.

There are people who practice Witchcraft. Whether what they practice or not works depends on the person.

Yes the darkness is real and can be found everywhere. Embrace the darkness in your heart and let it grow and prosper. You are a child of darkness. You have been called to great things. Let the darkness fill you. Drink freely from the wisdom of the well of darkness.

Not like you probably mean. Not the Hollywood version of magic. But then, what is portrayed correctly in Hollywood?

Magic or witchcraft is the nature of change. It's about awareness, balance and focus. It's intent, focused to create an effect. When I use magic, it's about self-hypnosis, positive reinforcement, symbolism and altered states of consciousness like meditation. It's internal and natural. And what you are inside leads to what you want in your life.

My magic has always beeen pretty effective. I'm highly motivated when I use it. It's real to me.
