Hi
Boy are you asking the wrong question. Who cares about the store compared to what you should feed your cats. Please read the label of the dry food you are feeding and want to feed. I would feed the worst quality canned over any dry food..
Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health
Contrary to what you may have heard, dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.
Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s and a host of other problems. The problems with it are that they are loaded with carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process. Most of the moisture a cat needs is gotten
out of the food and 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Also, most use horrible ingredients and don't use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.
You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn't have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all. Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Please read about cat nutrition.

Frankly, I wouldn't buy anything from Petsmart. I checked them out and didn't see a single good brand of food.

And avoid Walmart like the PLAGUE.

What you can do is find a good food, then check out their website to see where it's sold in your area.

I don't recommend feeding dry food at all, but it's better than not feeding your cat anything. There are some foods which are better than others - if that proverbial gun was held to my head and I was forced to stop feeding canned food, I would choose Evo, Instances or Core.

It depends on what is available in your small town. Most small towns don't have chain stores such as petco or petsmart so it varies on what is available.

What you can do is call your cat's veterinarian and ask him or her what food he or she recommends specifically and then they should be able to tell you where to get it. I'm not sure where in the country you are but many farm supply stores and feed stores sell cat foods as well.

Stay away from retail stores such as Meijer and Walmart because they sell low quality diets. Higher quality diets can't be found here.

So, just call the vet clinic and ask what the recommended food is and where to get it; they should know of somewhere very close to you.

Wal-mart, Safeway, whatever store like that you have in your town. My cats get a mix that is roughly one part Kit and Kaboodle and two parts Complete Formula Cat Chow, both from purina, though when they were kittens, the two parts was Kitten Chow, and when they hit ten years old, I'll be switching the Complete Formula to the senior cat Cat Chow. It works really good, and the Kit and Kaboodle makes it taste better for them. My town is also a really small one and we don't have a pet store, so we buy food and litter and any other supplies at Wal-Mart and Safeway. Despite what people say about Wal-Mart, it depends on the reliability of your Wal-Mart if you have one. Most aren't that good, but ours is good. I've never found a hole in a bag of cat food or any other problems.

I live in a small town too. I have to buy my cat food on the internet. We do have a Petco and one local place that sells some pet food but it still ends up being cheaper to buy in bulk on the internet and I get the brands I want.

Pets-Mart, Pets Unlimited. or Petland. I'd stay away from Wal-Marts, K,marts and general department stores, because I have seen bags in the stores with mice holes and feces in the floors. Try to find a reputable dealer that specializes in pet foods.

A great place to go is Petsmart. They are cheaper than the other petstores, and have the same products. Stay away from PetCo they are really expensive. They just built one in my town, I would rather drive 10 more minutes and go to Petsmart than petco.

we give ours royal canin and order it online. With our old cats we used to buy it from the supermarket or buy a large amount from pet city (now pets at home)
