How about things that are practical such as a pack of newborn size diapers with a cute card to go with? maybe a pacifier for newborn and attach it to the card? (can't get enough of those) Being a bit practical here since i have a 4 month old and remember how helpful it was with those practical gifts since we hadn't quite bought everything we needed yet..
Good luck :) And congratz to the parents,,such a wonderful time for them

mmmm, I wish someone had brought me chocolate!! I think that's an awesome idea! Personally, I'd skip the balloons (they will be difficult to bring home with everything else) and go with an outfit for the baby. This can be tucked away easily for the trip home. Or maybe a card and a gift card for a local store so the parents can go get whatever they happen to need. I liked these gifts the best. Stuffed animals are ok too, but personally I feel they just collect dust and create a lot of work for the new parents to keep clean.

Depending on Mum, flowers, good chocolate or a good book! It can be surprisingly boring waiting for your new arrival to wake up, they do it very little, so unless she is the type to make new friends quickly and easily a good read or puzzle book would be good. On the other hand shes earned a little treat, so the chocs would be good. Flowers are always an old faithful, you definitely can't go wrong there.
For baby, clothes if the parents haven't already stocked up (good idea if they didn't know the sex before bubs was born), or a small cuddly something.

Don't give her chocolates especially if she is breastfeeding! Hospital food stinks, so bring take out from her favorite place. Then wait to give her anything for the baby until they get home, because they will figure out what they really need after a few days. Also, offering to help do a load of laundry, dished or make dinner is the best gift that you could give.

does the baby have a take-home-outfit? they have really cute sets that come with a t-shirt, outfit, blanket, hat, booties, and blanket... that might be a nice gift... it has the essentials for baby
balloons... im not very fond of balloons, but if she's a balloon person then that's fine... if not figure out what makes her happy or get something more personable - - ask her if she needs anything that would make her more comfie... a pair of slippers, etc... or u can do flowers... but be mindful that if she already has people bringing her flowers and balloons that too much can be overwhelming :)

I have seen some florists or gift stores that have stuffed elephants in pink or blue. On one ear the baby's name is monogrammed and on the other the baby's weight, length and date of birth are monogrammed. It comes with a door hanger to hang on the door. It is sooo cute and something that can be kept as a keepsake. It's not very big either.

Flowers are good for the mom and maybe a small stuffed animal or pacifier for the baby. Nothing too big she still has to take all that stuff home.. Congrats on the new arrival.

I would say something for her. I know that all of the attention goes straight to the baby .....but wow....what a woman goes through to have a baby......boy it takes a lot out of you. And when you get a little gift or acknowledgment....it makes you feel nice!!! I don't know.....maybe some slippers or a small bouquet of flowers...keep it simple. Just something to tell her she still exists!!!

Yup. Balloons are always good for the mom. You should bring something like a teething toy, or something that the baby should be able to use soon, and that will also be helpful for them.
