Are Christians the single most ignorant part of American society?

No. I know quite a few American Christians with postgraduate degrees who are anything but ignorant. True, some Christians adhere to backward, provincial theories (homophobia, misogyny, bigotry), but they tend to come from a very loud minority. The vast majority of Christians don't bother anyone, are not ignorant, and don't attempt forcing their beliefs upon others. As for the truly ignorant people in this world, you'll find them within all belief systems, not just Christianity.

I would say that all the people that believe that they are better that others are the down fall of the American society
