pour a little Jack Daniel's on it and let it sit for about 30 minutes
then, add some worcestershire and some Dale's marinade, along with some garlic salt, black pepper, and basil
let it marinade for about 3 hours
then, grill it on the barbecue.

Cod liver oil?? Yeurch!
Really not sure anything I could suggest would do much for you if that is your preferred flavour!

There are a couple of things I have done - they work as well with other meats like lamb or pork.

Mash some garlic & mix with olive oil & balsamic vinegar (not too much of each) and rub into the meat - I leave it as long as I can (overnight in the fridge) although it has been as good after an hour.
Other things - replace the balsamic vinegar with lemon - replace the garlic with crushed peppers, mint, rosemary, thyme, sage (depending on the meat & your preferences.

I find if I have thicker cuts of meat - making slices into it before rubbing the marinade in works wonders!

I went to a BBQ and the guy used a Jack Daniels marinade (I believe he bought it at the store) and marinated his steak in it for 2-3 days (more than recommended) but it tasted so good. the steak was very tender as well. You wouldn't even know he used a Jack Daniels marinade unless you asked him.

There are some really good store-bought ones. Stubbs makes an awesome beef marinade as well as a Texas Roadhouse one. Those are better than a lot of the homemade ones I've tried.

how about blackened steak.......VERY yummy........make some cajun seasoning or buy it then melt some butter put it and a bunch of seasoning on a dinner plate, coat both sides of steak with seasoning, butter helps add flavor and keeps seasoning on as well as keeping it from sticking to the Cast iron pan that should be preheated by now..........
