I played an awesome electronic set the other day but i am not sure if i should go that route or keep buying cymbals and heads for my Tama set. How do they sound in a live setting? I like the ease of set up and the fact that i dont need to mic them or screw with the heads before a gig. Are there any good high end sets for playing clubs? I dont want a cheesy sound!! Anybody??

I have not been looking lately but I have always found them to sound sort of "tecno". There is a presence that regular drums and cymbals have that I like. It really depends on the type of music you are playing.

Hmm, your question asks more questions of itself. If you go with an electronic set, you will have to play settings with a PA system powerful enough to handle your kit, vocals and any other instrument mics. Cheesy sound is a personal taste, one dude's cheese is another dude's cutting edge. Personally, I would recommend keeping with a real acoustic kit, and modding it with dampers, head rings and whatever else you need to get the sound you want. If you hit your tamas hard enough to keep breaking heads and cymbals, how much is it gonna cost when you beat the crap out of a transducer? Nothing sounds better in a small club than a compact kit played to match the room. Like they say: "The smaller the kit, the bigger the drummer".

i would definitely choose acoustic drums, they don't bring so much problems like the electronic, and u can play them even in a place with no electricity. I think the sound is the same, so keep buying acoustic drums and cymbals...
