How many people know what this disease is (without looking it up first)?
I'm curious, because I've had to explain this many times in regards to my mother and father. I am also exhibiting symptoms.
Thanks for your time and honesty!

I'm sorry for those of you who have answered who have FM. Really, I was looking for a response from others who may or may not know about the disease ... unfortunately, I think my perceptions have been confirmed. Unless you have it, know someone who does, or you're an MD, you probably don't know what Fibro is.
Sad.

i suffer from fibro and i wouldn't wish it on anyone. there is no definitive test for fibro. there is NO cure for fibro. there are many symptoms, the main one being chronic unexplained pain in joints and muscles. extreme fatigue, sleep problems, anxiety, irritable bowel syndrome, memory problems are other symptoms. doctors believe it has something to do with our central nervous system. it is, indeed, very hard to explain. that is why i got books for my family and friends. Fibromyalgia for Dummies seemed appropriate! when people ask what it is, i tell them "it's like having severe arthritis, the flu and chronic fatigue all at the same time." of course, we don't look sick, so we are often mocked...and there are days when we feel mostly normal. all of this doesn't help with the naysayers. i try to eat as healthy as i can, drink green tea, lots of water and i take the OPC along with the B-12 Complex. it helps IMMENSELY! though, it by NO means can cure you. i also take a "cocktail" of meds prescribed by my doctor. every person is different, so your meds will differ. i really hope you don't have it! get a knowledgeable doctor and take the tender points test...it is a start. good luck.

i mean basically it's unexplained pain.
it's a word for someone who is in pain and the doctor can't figure out why. there's no cure, no real medical treatment. i recommend yoga.
