What is so wrong about it? I have no idea what category this goes in.

I honestly don't know. It's perfectly normal to have ketchup on hotdogs.

Maybe those people who cringe at ketchup just need to see a little bit more of the world beyond. They sound a bit ignorant.. Wonder how they'll react if I eat some raw salmon in front of them.

Lol.

I cringe when I see people do this because I think it tastes disgusting. I prefer mustard on my hotdogs--mainly because hotdogs (as a rule) are very fatty, and the acidity of the mustard sort of counteracts the fat and makes the hotdog taste less greasy. Ketchup is too sweet for hotdogs.

Cuz ketchup is gross.

"Ketchup is an ingredient frowned upon by Hot Dog aficionados. Although ketchup remains one of the most popular condiments on Hot Dogs, "properly made" Hot Dogs, like the Chicago Style, usually lack the condiment.

Those who consider themselves Hot Dog connoisseurs are often vehemently opposed to eating (or even witnessing) Hot Dogs with ketchup; they think the flavor of ketchup overpowers and destroys the taste of the Hot Dog instead of complementing it. Nowhere is this difference in opinion more apparent than in Chicago"

HAHA. Hot Dog connoisseurs. That's like being a cat turd connoisseur. How can you be a connoisseur of something as disgusting and pedestrian as a hot dog??

The National Hot Dog & Sausage Council, in its recommendations for proper Hot Dog Etiquette capitulate only slightly with regard to the sin of putting ketchup on hot dogs, saying, "Don't use ketchup on your hot dog after the age of 18." (This alludes to the fact that many children like ketchup on their hot dogs due to the sweet taste, but adults are expected to have a more sophisticated palate and should use appropriate condiments, including mustard).

I personally don't care for ketchup if it touches any type of bread or bun, but that is just mean. Putting ketchup on hot dogs and hamburgers is fine. Most people in my family do that; I am the odd one.

Everytime I have been at a picnic or BBQ they always have mustard, mayo, ketchup and relish out the for hot dogs.

I never put ketchup on my hotdogs. In spite of that, however, I don't think putting ketchup on a hot dog is such an odd thing to do. Personally, I think saurkraut is grosser than ketchup---but at the same time, I don't act like a weak-stomached creep when I am with someone who likes saurkraut on his hotdogs.

I could go on about this. People who are really petty and picky about food get to me, because most of them feel a need to do things like this.

I'd say they must have some sort of a nervous tic or something. I can't imagine a hotdog without ketchup. Or a hamburger or fries without it for that matter. Long live ketchup.

Don't know why anyone would. Most folks I know use ketchup as well as mustard and a host of other things on a hot dog. I have a niece that puts it on just about everything she eats.

Doesn't everyone put ketchup on their hotdog? Or are you using a euphemism? In that case I would cringe, too! LOL
