I saw that commerical too. There are no light or low lead bullets.

Just because something is "Light" doesn't mean it is any less harmful to someone. If you make some 10,000 calorie dessert that leads problems and they they make a "Light" version of it that is only 9,800 calories doesn't make it and less as detrimental. Labeling of said dessert as "Light" is not wrong; It is a lighter version of the original. It is also not illegal to do so.

People need to be responsible for themselves. People should know by now that smoking is bad for you and if you smoke then it is your own decision. If you want to believe that something labeled as light is okay to smoke then you have a problem. The government should not have to ban these descriptions. I do not have numbers in front of me or anything, but if a cigarrette company labels something as "low tar" you should be getting a cigarrette that is lower in tar than an original. If not you are going to have lawsuits and the restitiution would be too great for the cigarette company to handle. If someone puts "Light" on a cigarette you have to think it would be light. It is then the personal responsibility of the person who is smoking to realize it is a deadly habit.

Its all a perception thing. Similar to those No fat or low fat chips or snack that you see in the market. People see those and they think that is it healthier and therefore they can have more of. In the end it is the same when they have more of it then they would have if were not low or no fat.

Similarly for smoking, the body is not stupid. If you have always been giving it 10 cigerattes a day and if thise light cigerattes do indeed have less tobacco, then the body will crave for more then 10 sticks to meet what is was always before with the "full" version.

Whatever the case, cigerattes, light/mild or not...they are still harmful to the health.

i am a smoker, i have tried to quit several times, but i have never switched to light ciargettes because i think its less harmful, i smoke full flavors, and its all about the taste not the harm to your health that has anything to do with what cigaretttes i smoke, anyone who choses to smoke a 'lighter' cigarette is usually going for taste not health reasons if it was their health they were concerned about they would quit smoking all together, so the cigarette companies can use all the 'deceptive' terms they want i know what i want to smoke and how it tastes, so that has no effect on me whatsoever

also if i were to switch to a lighter cigarette i would just smoke twice as much as i do now. if i chose to smoke that is my choice and noone else should be held responsible for the damage i am doing to my body, i know its not easy to quit, and its not cheap to smoke but i will never quit quitting, but i am not going to sue the cigarette companies if i get lung cancer i did it by my own choice, but do they really need to raise the taxes so high on cigarettes that you have to be rich to smoke???

because they don't irritate your throat as much as the full flavor ones. Also you can somoke a whole pack and wake up the next morning and not feel as bad as is you somokes a 1/2 pack of Full Flavors.

Since they do not do as much immediate dammage, people think that it will delay the long term dammage, which is false, but impossible to get through peoples' heads.

Frankly, it has nothing do with their health, it has to do with the density of the filter on the cigarette and the alteration in taste the filter produces, people like different tastes in their cigarettes, and all who smoke, know that the advertising is not about health, it's about taste.

These terms are subliminal triggers that allow people to subconsciously justify their smoking. Word association can be a powerful persuader.

People belive what they want to believe. Sometimes they need that little deception to justify a bad habit.

About 400,000 smokers die a year, it's a way to get more people smoking.
