hello..is it safe to eat just raw cookie dough that you buy at the supermarket? i was wondering...because they have cookie dough ice cream..and the cookie dough in that tastes delicious! i was wondering if the raw cookie dough we buy at the supermarket..is the same one they put in the icecream..and it is safe of eat....

I think because of all the fear of eggs, the doctors reccommend that you don't eat raw eggs, but who cares what they say about that? I'm 45, my husband is 46 our daughter is 23 and we've all eaten raw cookie dough for years. So, I'm thinking if it hasn't killed us by now, i'm not going to stop eating it. My daughter lovesssssssss the raw cookie dough from the market, and she's very healthy.

The cookie dough in ice cream is not the same as the cookie dough used to make actual cookies...the ice cream one is a concoction spruced up by ice cream manufacturers that leaves out the eggs and a couple of other ingredients, in fact if you tried to pull out and bake the ice cream cookie dough, nothing would happen....hence why it is safe to eat ....

as far as eating this "store bought" brand raw cookie dough, I would think twice about eating it as you do not know the ingredients the manufacturer used in making the product..I would just make cookies with it unless you want to take a chance on getting ill..granted I do not think anyone has died from eating cookie dough but why take the chance on getting salmonella....

The cookie dough that is in ice cream is intended to be eaten raw and therefore has no eggs. Other ready made dough has eggs and should be cooked before eating even though the risk of Salmonella is very low. You can make your own cookie dough to eat, just leave out the egg.Bon appetite

Yes. I eat raw cookie dough everytime I make cookies. I doesn't matter to me if it's store-bought or homemade. I always have and always will. Some people say the raw eggs are dangerous, but I think it's a load of ... Look at all the health-nuts and body builders who eat raw eggs for breakfast. What you want to do when you make cookie dough at home is to wash the eggs with disinfectant soap before cracking them. The bacteria that can make you sick is on the outside of the shell.

It's safe to eat. Ah, brings back memories. Can't begin to tell you how much raw cookie dough I ate as a child. Also, licked the beaters and scraped the bowl anytime my mother made a cake. I liked the raw stuff better than after it was cooked! Enjoy, but not too much at a time. A little goes a long way, or you will end up with a bellyache.

Raw cookie dough has eggs as an ingredient, There is a chance of getting sick from it. I have eaten plenty of it in my life time and never got sick. I guess it's up to the individual.

I wouldn't trust anything pre-made these days, with all the recalls out there. Just make your own cookie dough and eat that. It would be a hell of a lot better for you.

cookie dogh in icream doesnt have egg in it, ppl say dont eat raw cookie dough because it has raw egg in it. i have been eating raw cookie dough for years, as does everyone i know and no one has gotten sick. but ya ice cream cookie dough is differant
