We normally say, "I am a social drinker", we go to a get-together or party and have 4 or 5 cubas, or beers.
Just how do we know we aren´t drinking too much?

It is not what you drink but HOW MUCH. Know your state/provincial laws regarding alcohol limits and drinking and driving. 2 drinks is about the maximum to be acceptable in our province and legally drive. So count your drinks if driving. Alcohol takes quite a bit longer to leave the bloodstream than to consume the drink. Coffee has no effect regarding sobriety. Stopping drinking and time is the only way to sobber up.

How much to drink is your choice entirely. There are self tests to help you determine if your level of consumption may be problematic for you.

If you think you have a drinking problem, chances are you probably do.

Good question.

I believe the rule of thumb for alcoholism is averaging 3 or more drinks per day. If you normally do not drink but binge when you do, that's not alcoholism (although not recommended either), as alcoholism implies a dependency upon alcohol.

As for the "limit", it depends which limit you're looking for...limit to drive? Limit before you do something embarrassing? Limit it gets stupid? Counting drinks isn't really helpful here, since alcohol affects us all differently based on mass, stomach contents, time over which drinks are had, and metabolism: Five drink over 8 hours is nothing, but five drinks in an hour can put someone on the floor.

I enjoy alcohol, I do not think if affects my life, and, sometimes I feel guilty that I drink (a couple each day)...and, the reason why I feel guilty, is because it seems everyone is against alcohol.. And say they never drink at all..only on rare occasions...but,...
To my workplace and my home is about 8 miles...within that area, there has to be 7 liquor stores...as well as some restaurants and such. These liquor stores are doing very well.

So, my point is, where are these customers coming from if no one drinks?

ps/I am against getting drunk, and, having too many...and, I know some people can not drink at all...but, for some people, i dont see anything wrong with having a couple of drinks to relax after a hard day of work.

the rule is 1 drink per hour for no more than 3 hours per day. Now for most people this would not likely even get you a buzz, but if you drink until you are buzzed and then drive home, you are by law, under the influence.
Also when I say drink, I mean a 1oz shot of hard liquor in a mixed drink, or 1 beer.
What makes you an alcholic is when your body needs the booze to function normally.

An Alcoholic is someone who daily drinks in excess. More than 2 to 4 drinks. Every day. Not just in social settings.

For to five drinks occasionally may be ok for some. For someone else it might be too many. If drinking four to five causes you to loose track of time then it's too many. Cut back to two.

Regardless of who you are, generally 3-5 mixed drinks is where people start to infringe on their boundaries. For some it's 3 for others it' s 5.
Real alcoholics can't follow this system, they are off the charts of normality.

Typically it takes one hour for your body to convert the alcohol of one drink to sugar, and depending on your body weight, if you have more than two drinks an hour you will end up over the legal limit by your second hour. So keep it to about a drink per hour and you should be fine.

You know you've drank too much when you start really slurring your speech, and i dont think theres a certain amount of drinks you can drink before you are an alcoholic. I think its more about the attitude you take towards binge drinking...

God i sound old saying that... =/

The amount of alcohol a person drinks isn't what separates an alcoholic from a non-alcoholic.
You are an alcoholic if you are "powerless over alcohol, and your life has become unmanageable."
