"Why do Atheist spend all their time answering religious questions on YA, if they don't believe?"

It's fun to try to educate people.

"you would think Atheist would stay clear of somthing they hate!"

We don't "hate," we simply don't believe.

"why do some atheist hate the bible, when they so clearly have not read it?"

We don't "hate," we simply don't believe. I'd say the majority of atheists have read the Bible.

"those that have read the bible, why if you dont believe in God?"

The same reason we don't believe every other book we read that doesn't make any sense.

"Do Atheist think it is their job to Save Christians?"

Some do, I suppose.

I don't really get what you want. You don't like atheists disliking the Bible if they haven't read it, but you don't think they should read it because they don't believe in God. You can't really have it both ways.
You don't have to believe in a book to read it. Harry Potter is a fabulous work of fiction. To me, the Bible is fiction, but that doesn't mean I can't read it.
I don't hate religion. I find religion deeply fascinating. Also, you should note that this is not the Bible section, it's the Religion and Spirituality section. I'm atheist only in the sense that I don't believe in a deity. There are many other aspects to this section of YA.

I like talking about Harry Potter too. Doesn't mean I believe it. Besides, I like talking about (read: debating) religion, it's fun and it makes me give my brain a workout. Also, I don't hate religions or their adherents. I certainly don't like some of what they've caused, but I don't hate them for it.

I have read the Bible; in fact, I was a Christian for a long time. I think one day I read a passage from the Bible (can't remember which one) and thought "Why in the hell are we worshiping something like this?" If the Bible is true, God doesn't deserve our respect, much less our reverence.

I'm going to assume that when you say "save Christians" you mean de-convert them from Christianity. In that case, frankly, I could care less what you believe in. You're entitled to believe in whatever you want, as long as you don't beat me over the head with your beliefs.

Why do Republicans debate with Democrats? Why do White people get involved with discussions about racial relations? Why do people who use AT&T cellular service talk to people who use Verizon?

It's a big ol' world, and we have to share it, whether we like everything each other believes or thinks. Isn't the best way to do that to try and understand each other? Maybe try to find some common ground, so we can separate the rhetorical B.S. from dominating our opinions of the other? And like others have said already, does being an Atheist mean that Atheism is the only thing I can discuss? If so, then Christians shouldn't comment on any other discussion, for example... homosexuality.

I answer a lot in mythology and folklore too and I don't believe that either.

I'm very interested in world religions in general - not just Christianity and you would hope that we could all have a reasonable debate that wasn't just centred on christians versus atheists.

How do you know atheists haven't read the Bible. I'm an atheist but I went to Bible study every week as child so yes I've read it and yes I still think it's fraudulent and unreliable.

1. I can't hate what I don't believe in.
2. Ive read the Bible more times than you, Ive also read the Koran have you?
3. I don't "hate" the Bible I see it as it is, a bunch of Fairy Tales
4. I read the Bible because like you I was Brainwashed from birth, I still read it now and again, like you would read Harry Potter.
5. If you listen to reason then I would like to save you from the Cult called Christianity.

1. just because you're atheist doesnt mean you HATE religion, it just means you have other beliefs

2. atheists still have an opinion on religion, which they have just as much right to voice as you do.

3. christians say they speak of the bible to convert atheists, i say i speak against the bible to convert christians. what injustice could that be?

4. most atheists have read the bible, and do quite frequently, and for that reason believe in it less and less every time they read it. the bible itself enforces the reasons that atheists don't believe.

Your question is typical of the type of question asked in the religion and spirituality section. you don't ask a question to broaden your knowledge about religion, you take the oppurtunity to bash non-believers by exposing their "faults" as you see them.
As for your supplemental question, I think that your faith is blinding you so that you can't see reality. Religious people are notorious for trying to change others. I have never in my life rang someones doorbell with the intention of changing them.
It is for this precise reason that organized religion is one of the leading causes of death. While you want your beliefs respected you don't give the same respect to those that believe differently.
So to answer your question directly some atheists spend some of their time answering questions in the religion section to defend themselves from verbal attacks.

Two Reasons -

#1 - This is an open and free discussion group.

#2 - Certain religious groups in this country are trying to take over. They want their beliefs to be the law of the land and their morals to be Natural Law. If we don't fight this then this country is going to turn in the worst possible form of government - a Theocracy.

well, not an athiest (no religion/label)
but we get on here to pass time. I dont think they all hate god.
and there is a quote from mm & mr. crowley himself that applies to this as well " i never hated a one true god, but the god of the ppl i hated. ".
and most of us that are "athiests", dont believe b/c of the bible and so called religous.
