my friends husband is coming home for his 2 week r&r from iraq, iwould like to give a basket with glasses an d a bottle of wine or champage, ca you suggest some mid priced good brands or if anyone has a better idea please i welcome any ides.

I think Prosecco is a very good value. Avail. at Bverages and more, and some well stocked grocery stores. It retails from 10 up.
This is a good time to buy sparkling wine or champagne. It's between seasons and the stores generally reduce prices to make room for new inventory b/4 the holidays.
You may think about adding some crackers and cheese to the basket.

I think a champagne is more celebratory and more people like champagne. Freixenet has had good reviews. They have a clear bottle and a black bottle. They are around $15. Moet & Chandon White Star is a well-known label if you want to impress. That runs about 45.
