Don't worry, I see that a lot of people are telling you that she has been taken away from her mother too early when really this is the standard time that breeders make the puppies available. By six weeks the puppy is weened off of milk and is on solid foods...a perfect time to leave mom. I know it may seem harsh to other people but you have to realize dogs are not like people. Moaning and grunting is perfectly normal for a puppy and yes, they do pee a lot. The snuggling is because that is what she is used to...when she was with her litter this is what they did to stay warm.

Good luck and enjoy your puppy!

Well, 6 weeks old is a little on the young side for her to have already left her mother. Most breeders and pet stores don't sell puppies until they are about 8 weeks old. She probably just needs a little extra attention because of her young age. As for the peeing- I'm afraid lots of puppies have very tiny bladders and do need to go out a whole lot until you can get them on a regular schedule. If it's not possible for you to let her out that often, you can either train her to go in a litter box, or you can limit her water intake by only giving her water during specific times of the day and cutting her off about an hour or so before bedtime. See if that helps. If it doesn't take her to the vet to make sure she doesn't have any common puppy ailments like kennel cough.

I think the puppy was taken away from its mother way too young. Eight weeks is better for the puppy. I am sure she is not sick, but with a pup that young she will need an awful lot attention and TLC. Take her out everytime she needs to pee, and encourage her too drink her water. That is the one thing you need to watch closely, that she is getting water and adequate food. She can get dehydrated if she goes too long without water. She wants to be held and snuggled cause she misser her mom and litter mates, that is normal. The grunting is also normal for a very young pup. Just keep a good eye on her, and get her to the vet, if you have problems with eating or drinking. Good luck!

As others have said, this puppy was taken from her litter too early.

No, Kyla -- 6 weeks is *not* "the perfect time" for puppies to leave their mother/litter. They may be weaned, but they still have much to learn about being a dog (bite inhibition, etc.) that occurs in the following 2 weeks. Taking a puppy from a litter too young almost always guarantees behavior problems later in life.

The moaning/grunting/snuggling is likely due to her insecurity. She's been away from her litter and mother -- the only things she's known -- for only a few days. She is worried and unsure. It is not uncommon for puppies to vocalize their concerns! She'll get over this, but it will take more than a few days. An 8 week old puppy would be more confident, but that's a moot point.

The urinating is typical for such a young puppy.

Have you had this girl to the vet? It would probably be a very good idea.

Part of the problem is that she is too young to be away from her mother. Most responsible breeders wait until pups are at least 8 weeks old before sending them home. You need to have your pup checked out by a vet to be sure that she is healthy and has the necessary shots. When she hits 8 weeks, she will probably start peeing less often and become a bit more independent.

she was too young to leave the mother; she is a baby ; what do you expect??? ; if she was with Mom and siblings , she would be cuddling for security for warmth and comfort; she moans because she misses all that she knows; someone did the wrong thing by ripping this baby away too early; you will have to be patient with her ; if you can't ; find a better home; my heart breaks for the puppies because of these ignorant people out there who should never have a dog and especially not puppies; they are not toys or play things; they are living breathing creatures and deserve to be treated with respect for LIFE; get a puppy book and look for help and assistance ; or contact a local vet for advice

Its true that puppies shouldnt be away from the litter until they are 8 weeks, but to all these people yelling at you, sometimes you cant help it! What are you supposed to do when the person who owned it is giving it away? They will just give it to the next person who will take it that young. My puppy is seven weeks old and I know she should have stayed with her Mom longer, she now has me, my husband, and my other dog to be with. Be patient with it, take it to the vet and take it outside a lot! It will be fine if you treat it properly.

no its not normal. I agree with mmcrobinson. If she cant be with her mom, then make sure you act like her mom (even if your a male). In other words make sure she eats and drinks every so often (so she get thes nutrients she needs). When she need to snuggle let her sit on your lap, maybe even laydown and let her lay beside you. If you have a little stuff animal that is small and is not of very importance to you, make sure it has no beans (no beanie stuffed animals) in it you can give it to her and she can play with it. Also make sure you take her for walks and let her run around in your yard so she will get her dose of exersise. When you take hr for walks make sure you do it day after day so she wont get arthritis. When she get Arthritis she will experience intene pain in her joints but if she get enough exersise day after day she wont get Arthritis until she is old.

Your puppy is too young to be away from it's mother.

You need to have it looked at by a vet, and then bring it back to it's mother. Never adopt a dog or cat younger than 8 weeks. You get nothing but problems.

She needed two more weeks (that's a long time when it comes to a new puppy) with her mother and littermates.

And she also needs a a little trip to the vet.
