If you go to Target, Office Depo or Staples, usually they carried a list of school supplies right by the entrance with respectively grade list. They have them for grades K-12.
Rule of Thumb: always wait until he had attended first day of class because the teacher usually has his/her own agenda/wish list for your child to have.

check the school website to see if they list the necessary supplies your child will need for the year. Some of her teachers may require additional supplies for class projects but, I am sure these list will be given out in the first few days of school.
There are a few basic things every child will need. Paper, pencils , pens, compass, protractor, notebooks and/or folder.

Another thing you could do is contact a parent of a child that was in that grade and ask them what they bought to start the school year with.

Go to google and search for your child's school. The majority of school districts these days have websites with current info including supply lists. If your district does not ahve a website, just pick up the basics for her to take the first day, then she can get a detailed list from her teachers. The basics would include pens, notebook paper, a binder, and maybe a spiral notebook.

This depends on the school. They usually have a list you can get from them of required/suggested school supplies. If not call the office and ask what is needed.

5 subject not book (I like five star). Book covers. An organizer to schedule homework and other projects. Pencils, pens, and a calculator (depending on what math subjects what kind). For French, one of those laminated study guides. A backpack. Usually on the first day of school they will find out what items they need, so don't go too fancy, wait until after she has her first class in case she needs something more specific.

Just get the basics like paper, pens, pencils, highlighters, and folders. Wait for the teachers to give a list of what they want. All teachers want kids to have different stuff. One year a math teacher wanted my son's class to have purple pens to grade with. That was fun finding.

It does depend on the school/class but I was able to find a list of suggested back to school supplies on http://www.smartofficedirect.com - You can't beat the prices either!

Ican tell you from experiance. You will need pencils, pens (black or blue ink, i suggest the cheap ones because they last longer), map pencils, spirals, also lots of wide ruled notebook paer, and maybe one or two binders. Also since your girl is taking french, I suggest a small pocket sized french to english dictionary. That should be it.
