for my one year anniversary i want to get my boyfriend flowers..but i dont know what kind to get him...should i stick with the traditional roses or something else?

While flowers are always a lovely gesture, why not give him a plant? Depending on where you live, you can even get plants that flower at certain times of the year. I have a Bird of Paradise and it is the most beautiful plant! (I live in Colorado and it does fine even in the winter months as long as it is near a heating vent and gets natural light.) Google it and see if it might be right for your boyfriend. It's really nice to give plants, unlike flowers they will usually last a very long time. Not to mention how good they are for the air! Flowers on our label for prom, wedding, and daughter's wedding; flowers on our coffin. That's the universe when it's ok to "give" a guy flowers. Now, if you want to buy flowers for, say a table decoration when you serve your guy dinner, that's a different story. Or you want to get him some crazy cool plant because you're quirky (like a weird shaped cactus or a venus fly trap) OK. But not roses. Not carnations. Not lillies, not orchids.
Instead, MAKE him something. It can be gushy and romantic, but it's still acceptable for guys to have because it came from you.

Im just gonna say go pull some of your neighbors flowers and give them to him, whenever I get flowers I throw them away or just keep them alive until I break you with her and give them to my new girlfriend.
EDIT: Hey, you can get him something useless and breakable. They're cheap and we love that kind of crap
EDIT AGAIN: Okay, so he wants flowers. Well then just get him some roses!

What ever you like --most guys don't care for flowers or chocolate... they usually prefer something useful and non-perishable...
