persisting knee pain?

my knee has been hurting for 8 weeks now, and i dont know what to do because i went to the doctor 2 weeks ago and the doctor said to take an anti-inflamitory 3 times daily, and to ice and elevate my knee for 3-4 times daily, to not do too much in the way of activities and i followed the doctors instructions very properly and it has not gotten better, what should i do

it may take more time to heal Then the doctor thought. I would advise going back to the doctor to see if something else can't be done . If not, I suggest you see an orthopedic doctor. they are the best at treating this type of problem.
