I really truly wish no ill will on Elvira Arellno or her son, but the fact is she got off easy. Not only did she sneak into the country illegally multiple times, she also committed identity theft and fraud by stealing social security numbers. She is not the face of what is wrong with the immigration system in the U.S., she is the symbol of why we need to be more strict with the system. Was she really thinking of her son when she committed these crimes? An American citizen who commited the same crimes would be in jail right now. In the year she spent at the church hiding out, did she even bother to learn English or try to show that she was willing to make a bettter life? NO. And where is the Dad in all of this? She was a fugitive from the law, and she got what she deserved. I am hopeful that her son grows up with his mom, because no child deserves to be without his parents. However, unless she comes into the country the RIGHT way, pays taxes, learns ENGLISH, and tries to be a productive member of society, then he will more than likely have to do it in Mexico.

She is a multiple felon and when she was being deported she was given the choice of taking her son with her or not. She did not want to take him with her. She only got pregnant because she thought the anchor baby would allow her to remain in this country. And then, she holed up in the church, with her child in front of her. She is nothing but a coward. She deserved her punishment of deportation, and because of being a multiple felon, she lost all hopes of ever entering this country legally. She deserved prison time, so she was lucky she only got deported.

Are you referring to the case in Chicago where the eight year old son was taken in by the church? She apparently didn't want to take her son with her. There is no immigration law that prevents her from taking her son with her.

You need a lesson in the word CRIMINAL. Those are the people who break our law and when they get caught bad stuff happens to them. She deserved worse than she got.

Breaking the law is a crime. Immigration laws give us the right to deport illegals breaking the law. She chose to leave her child behind, therefore being disqualified for Mother of the Year.
