My sister has a cat allergy...she is able to get by with taking Claritin. I had a friend with the same problem, everytime he came over to our house (we have 4 cats) he would take a Claritin D and would be fine. If an OTC allergy med doesn't work, you could talk to your dr about getting a prescription for something a bit stronger...Allegra or Zyrtec for example.

Claritin definitely works. The 24 hour stuff taken daily, regularly works like a charm. For when you are feeling congested, Claritin D works well for clearing you up. You may also want to consider looking into allergy shots. Keep in mind that different breeds of cats will have different effects with you. Long haired will be worse than short haired. Also, you may want to just stick with one cat as the more you have the more dander. Plus, look for products to use around your house that will reduce the dander. I also found some wipes that I wipe on my cat once a week (much to her displeasure) that removes the dander, reduces it and she doesn't lick herself quite as much.

I had a cat that was allergic to flea bites and would break out periodically. then I'd have to give him half a pill every day for a couple of weeks. I don't remember the kind of medicine. the vet prescribed it. it really helped him.

Consult a homoeopath. There are some remedies but requires constitutional treatment.
