this world who is going to look after his child?
I want my dad and my bf to get along, and I know no one will ever be good enough if my fathers eyes.
How can I settle and reassure his fears?

mainly get the two of them together more so they get to know each other - family bbqs or dinners, they can go fishing or build things together. have their own relationship independent of you (ie you are not even there) - your dad needs to get to know him better. get busy.

Sit him down and talk to him. Tell him this is very important to you. He is your dad he cares aboout your happiness and I'm sure that is what he is worried about, he fears you will be dumped and when you are you will never get over it. Tell him you will and your boyfriend is very improtant to you. If it's important to you it will be important to him. Another good thing to do is take him and your boyfriend to a casual lunch and start up a nice conversation to get them to know each other, your dad just needs to know your boyfriend better, I'm sure they will be friendly with eachother in no time. Ask him what evidence he has that this person is not good enough for you - and then if you truly believe in your boyfriend, you should be able to counter any and all things your dad has to say with confidence.

Bring him around more. Is he respectful? See if there are things that he and your dad have in common. Invite your bf over for a bbq, in a relaxed setting...maybe your dad will see what you see in him. Good luck!

YOU are supposed to be an adult and capable of looking after yourself!!! YOU going to stay a child and have a Daddy your entire life??? Wake up! Your Father has more sense than you, listen to him!!!
