I had a bad second degree burn and I used polyporin, I actually used the one your talking about, the one enriched with vitamin e and it healed pretty quickly, I found the ointment better then the cream.

frankly I would use a product made specifically for burns, like silver sulfazaladine cream.

well, it certainly sounds like it. put ice on it first to stop the burn and make it feel better.
