see things from two different perspectives. I used to be Christian for 18 years of my life. I understand their point of views, but they cannot see past what they believe and then judge accordingly. Why is this?

I believe in "God" just as much as Christians do but in a different way. And then when i ask a question about something i get bombarded with negative answers. Why not an openminded answer?

I was a christian for 34 years. Once I reasearched things and found the truth, it set me free. The truth really does set you free.

They're human and imperfect. In some Churches, it seems like they teach their congregations to hate by how they treat and put other religions down, saying that they're better than everyone else (even though they may not be "living" their beliefs - Christ never taught to hate). But, you'll find in ALL religions people that are not living up to their teachings and are bad examples. Others will be offended, etc... It's learning to separate the people from their Churches. What does their Church teach? I believe most religions teach to love one another. But, it seems like people only apply that to members of their own belief and it doesn't apply to anyone. There are good examples in ALL religions as well. I think it's realizing that we are all children of God (whether they believe in God or not, or whether they believe in Him a different way - it doesn't matter). If we truly saw all of us a brothers and sisters, then I think feelings would change and we'd treat each other with a little more tolerance and respect. And serve ALL, no matter what their belief is...

They live in fear. They deny it-just like they'll deny a specific verse from the OT that shows God in a 'less than loving' light. But, the image is still in their subcoscious so they cling to Christian dogma in the hopes that this 'loving father' won't do any of the terrible things he's been given credit for in the OT.
Oh yeah. The first step to overcoming a problem is to admit you have it first, CHRISTIANS. Until they do that, I wouldn't hold my breath for a reasonable answer.

Just as Islam has its fundamentalists, so do the Christians. If they really examined their actions in light of what they profess, it would be evident that that they act not out of love of God, but hate of those different from themselves.
Nothing new. Been doing that since Abel and Caine.

Congratulations on being able to think outside the box. Don't expect much company. We make up in quality what we lack in quantity.
Edit: Oh CJ, when will you go away forever?

I don't think it's the answers from Christians that make someone want to become an atheist I think it's the lack of answers. For example, CJ here. "According to the Bible..." once you read those words you know it just isn't going to make any sense.

I was raised like you... it took a long time for me to recognize:
The primary focus of all religion is to act as an organized system to control the masses.
cheers!

A true Christian would know that only God can judge our actions. I can lend advice or a helping hand, but it's not Christlike to judge anyone else for believing or doing what they do.

You shouldn't blame GOD for what people do or say...even if they are GODS people. People are free to say or do as they choose. In the word, GOD gave instructions to HIS people on how to live...its up to them to actually choose to heed them.
