Kleenex, one of the most widely used brands of tissue, is made from the pulp of eucalypt and pine trees. The wood fibers are broken up and pressed in a method similar to that of writing paper. There is a combination of long, thick, soft fibers (pine) to provide strength and short, fine hardwood fibers (eucalypt) to provide softness and smoothness. Is is essentially the choice of fibers that results in different properties between the various dissimilar products we call "paper."
