Small dog breeds seem to have a longer life span than large breed dogs. You are doing something right with your fifteen year old Jack. A good diet and medical care linked with exercise should keep your dog going for several more years. Smaller breed dogs have been known to get up into their twenties. I wish your dog many more happy years.

My parents had a male jack russell who died at the beginning og the year aged 17. Another dog attacked him and he died of an injury other than that apart from being a bit blind and deaf he was in perfect health.

Depends how healthy they are but I would say that 15 is a brilliant age for a Jack Russel. You should be proud of yourself, you're obviously looking after him well!

But don't fret. Some dogs live pass their lifespans - I guess it depends on their personal health and happiness. I would just recommend taking your dog for more frequent visits to the vet so he or she can be monitored for any sudden changes.

Jack Russells remain active well into their 15-year-plus live span. The smaller breeds of dogs live longer, this breed the life span is usually portrayed as 13-15 years, but as long as your dog is active and healthy, don't worry you have pleanty of time left with him.
