Can it be a deep physiological problem or from childhood? Something unfinished?

What would be the signs of a young adult not wanting to grow up and lead an adult life with responsibilties?

I am not just talking about a person being immature, I am looking deeper into a problem that could be rooted quite deep

My title might throw people off topic a little...when I say 'What can hold a person back from "wanting" to grow in life, I mean that the person does want to take on responsibilities but something is stopping them and part of them doesnt want to move on

Fear of responsibility. Fear of change. Fear of accepting one is powerless in the world. Fear of losing the safety net that is their parents.

Perhaps it's insecurity. Insecurities can root from childhood like for example they were always told that they would never be anything in life. It really depends but I don't think it's something physiological.

unresolved emotional baggage will often hold a person back. It is difficult to move forward when the mind cannot let go of the emotions tied to their history. I found a great deal of help at the following website, have even met the author of the program offered there, you might check it out if you have the time.

Perceived Worth. If a person internally doesn't feel Worthy of something new or worthwhile, they will sabotage the events subconsciously to keep it from happening. Called "Self Destructive", it has little to wwith Suicide, though it can lead to that.

Maybe insecurity...maybe they feel secure at home and are afraid they won't be secure if they leave. Maybe depression. It's a scary world out there!!!
