Have you had a sleep test done at a sleep clinic. I wasn't sleeping well and when I found out I had sleep apnea I now sleep with the use of a CPAP and sleep like a baby.

Loss of sleep is not just annoying. It's very dangerous. It effects everything we do. So take care of it. Go to your primary doctor, explain your symptoms, and have him(or her) help you find a doctor that can test you. The weird dreaming could be a sign of not enough oxygen because of the sleep apnea.

Don't take any prescription medicine to help you sleep. If you have sleep apnea it can make the problem worse. If you are over-weight loose weight. That can be part of the problem.

Try not to eat or drink right before bed. Don't drink caffeinated beverages after around lunch time. Caffeine stays in your system for around 6 hours so try to stay away from it in the late afternoon and evening. Try to exercise sometime during the day. Don't do it too close to bedtime or it will keep you awake. Try to eat a healthy, well balanced meal. Cut out sugar as much as possible. If you wake up during the night, try to go back to sleep without looking at the clock. Somehow your body has programmed itself to wake up at that same time every night and by looking at the clock you are reinforcing it. Try to just go back to sleep without seeing what time it is.

That used to be me. But, see if its any movies you may be watching or eating food late, especially junk food. You can also try making yourself more comfortable in the bed. Maybe, not watching tv at a late time. For me, i kept eating very late but now im good!

Yes. I might ask my dr. about amitriptyline...maybe you should too. Those dreams are such a nuisance, aren't they ! Wish we could just use a shower cap to keep them out lol (Maybe that 's why they used to wear "nightcaps" in the olden days !!!)
