A medium sized chunk of my tooth just came off in the back of my mouth on the tooth nearest to the wisdom. When I run my tongue over it now, it feels really sharp. What will the dentist do, should I make an appointment immediately?

By the way, I've had a problem with this tooth for a while... I had to stop flossing it because it was too painful

your tooth was probably painful to floss because it was cracked. You should make an appointment to see a dentist asap. If a lot of the took is broken off you probably should have a crown made.

Make an appointment immediately!
The dentist can check for peridontal disease as well as other issues of the mouth.
Calm down, the dentist can help you to prevent future episodes like this one.

Take care

That happened to me once too when I was eating popcorn. The dentist just made me crown to cover it. Make sure you have good dental insurance, it's expensive.

i've got had an analogous difficulty and have lost a number of "aspects" of enamel via fact of loss of dental care. interior the long-term this is extra low value to get the dental care quite than attempt to repair it later. you are able to finally end up in soreness or with an infection...yet i did no longer.
