This is a serious answer.
We are to love our wives the way that Christ loved the church and gave his life for it. Love is defined by our Lord as holding the welfare of others above our own. Beating someone like a dog would not seem to fit this description. The end result is the fruit clearly seen as division and even more ammunition for the anti Christ to use to try and brow beat us into submission.

I would say this is a huge victory for the enemies of the Cross.

I am a Southern Baptist.

Charges should be filed! Divorce and anyone who would attend a church where a man who is suppose to be a pastor and stomp his wife, well, you members got issues as well. I dont understand how people are saying pray for him, when people know good and well if that was your daughter, brother, sister or friend you would have a totally different attitude and YES I am a christian!

Just because he is a religious "celebrity" should not bar him from punishment as if he was a lay person. He obviously needs help. Should he be restored to the point of ministering a church? I dont think so, be he shouldnt be kept from serving in some capacity.

What is going on in "young Hollywood" is attrocious!!

It's quite disgusting. He blames Satan, which is a TOTAL cop-out. The article I read quoted him as saying "We’ve got certain things going on right now, but I refuse to stop coming to the house God built."

Guess what, buddy -- God says that until you apologize to Mrs. Bynum, He will NOT hear your prayers. (Matt. 5:23-24)

As for what should be done to him: defrock him (take away his right to preach); take away his congregation; prohibit him from holding ANY kind of leadership position within the church for a period of years, until he's received psychological counselling AND the elders believe he's no longer a moral and physical threat to anyone. Of couse, he should also face whatever punishment the law deems appropriate.

In response to Spirit2's answer: "But I [Jesus] tell you: Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who persecute you." Matthew 5:44. I don't know too much about this issue, but from what I can gather, this man should go to jail, or at least be tried in court. We as Christians need to pray that he will turn back to God, and forgive him as Christ has already forgiven him. Jesus forgave him, but he still needs to face the consequences of his actions.

This seems like a good story to watch I have a feeling much more is going on than we have so far been told. However let God judge the none criminal aspects.

He should be tried, and if he's guilty he should convicted and sentenced. If he did what is being alleged that he did he needs some time in the slammer. I don't really have time to search for the verse, but Paul wrote that we're subject to the laws of the land (assuming they don't violate God's laws) and it's illegal to beat up your wife.

I think the more appropriate question would be what do you do about the con- artist thief Juanita Bynum.
