I stopped drinking a bottle of wine a night (5 nights a week) and also started drinking water. I always ate normally and very healthy but just drank a lot, too. Work out in the gym 4 days a week (weights and cardio). Stopped drinking 5 days ago.

So why am I GAINING weight now? I'm not eating any more than before. I thought not drinking alcohol causes weight loss! Water causes bloating, but that should have been done by now, too!!

Trying to be more healthy by making these changes, but now i'm just getting fat! Help!

How can you, in only five days, know that you are gaining weight? Women always amaze me. Alcohol has lots of calories, if you aren't drinking any more and eating the same, I think it is reasonable to, at least, keep the same weight. Good luck.

Muscle weighs more than fat. You can't just expect instant changes. Try sprints. You will get more results than all of those efforts at the gym. In only 4 minutes a day, maximum fat loss.

Also, take a look at your diet. DON'T eat dinner past 7pm and don't eat big, big meals that are heavy in carbs. No more pasta except as a treat maybe once a week. Eat more veggies and fish and chicken. Cut the red meat. Your diet is crucial to weight loss.

It's good you stopped drinking, but 1 glass of wine per day is actually good for your heart. Don't do this if you have a problem stopping at one glass. Good luck.

A bottle a night, that's quite the drinking habit and an expensive one at that. It has only been 5 days - give it a month and if you are still gaining weight, you may want to see a doctor or a personal trainer to help.

Are you on medication because they can cause weight gain. Stress can also cause weight gain. I'm sure your body is in shock from the sudden change. Also, you can try a gentle 3 day detox.
I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure it will even out over time. You should be really proud of yourself for quitting drinking.
Congrats! That is a huge achievement!

Lulu,
You were drinking a lot and your body has gone through some changes, Your complete abstinence of the alcohol is a good thing but your body is not used to it, you need to keep the water up but now we need to cleanse your body and your gut, and also start getting a good healthy protein supplement in you.
I am sure that you are continuing to exercises, and that is good. lets work on cutting the calories and increasing the nutrition.
you can email me if you would like to know more.

It has only been 5 days, how much weight have you gained in 5 days?
Relax, and don't weigh yourself for another 5 days or so.

Good Job on quitting the wine, I would like to make the same changes.
