A marvellous quote I stumbled across today relates to alot of narrow minded people on here who constantly think they are right and do not tolerate others views.

"If you truly love some one, you cannot judge them"

Now are you going to stuff it down my throat?

I like evryone who is being honest, judge others.
No it's not from your bible, it's from Mother Theresa of Calcutta.

My point is certain individuals on here constantly judge others but don't have the tolerance to listen.

You lnow who you are.

Well i believe judging to condemn others is wrong..we have no right to judge and condemn someone in any way, shape, or form. I've been on the road to self-destruction, and know the pain it brings with it -- so if i saw s/one i love dearly struggling with life i would make a judgement and say 'is there anything i can do to help you' but i certainly wouldn't condemn them - i would give them all the support i was able to give.

We have to make judgements daily in order to stay safe from ppl who might cause us harm--but i think you mean judging to condemn.

I think the quote of Mother Teresa is about unconditional love--when we love s/one unconditionally, we haven't got it in our hearts to judge them - we only have love for them - therefore we do e/thing in our power to support them.

Anyway, has s/one been judging you Andy - they better not. : x )

If you truly love some one, you will give good advise.
The problem is that society has got it wrong.
Judging means several things.
There is a difference between putting someone down
and giving advise.
Jesus actually did not tell us not to judge.
"Judge not, lest ye be judged"
means that you need to be careful when judging,
if you judge someone, make sure that you are not
doing the very same thing.
We are all judged by God!
We need to judge ourselves more than we
judge others.
God never said not to correct others for
their own good.
Lawlessness and chaos will rule if correction is not done!
Spiritual and religious matters are just as important
as health, career, family, etc.
I also heard the saying,
"It does not matter who is right or wrong, as long as
we all get along"
This is a "bologny" way of thinking.
Yeah, let's all get together and lie, cheat, steel, murder, etc.
as long as it does not affect our group.
If someone is going to get run over by a train, yeah,
I am going to tell them!
Love does not equal tolerance in the way that
tolerance is now defined.

Agreeing and loving are not the same thing at all!
Totally mixed up - half truth at best and leading
to total moral corruption at worst.

Tolerance = moral apathy

Absolutely! EVERYONE judges. It is within human nature to do so. It is religion that tries to teach that judging is a terrible sin, but it is necessary.

Poor judgement can be the difference between life and death in many cases. It's only the high & mighty religious types who preach about not judging but they do it anyway. The hypocrites are the ones who tell you judging others is bad.

I will be the first one to admit that judging isn't always good, but it is necessary in many cases.

All of us judge others every day. We can't get out of it, it is in our natures. We see someone and very quickly form a tentative opinion about them from their appearance, stance, apparel, body type, and the look on their faces. And standing out is the obvious racial characteristics. What matters is how we judge. Jesus said to "judge righteous judgment" Do we form an opinion right away that we are superior or try to look for what we consider deficiencies in that person, or do we really look for something positive?

To judge like the dictionary says, 'to form an opinion of'; yes.
To pass judgment, or to 'decide as a judge'; no.
I make personal observations of others, like, yes, they are liars, but to judge and say 'you will go to hell', I try to keep that thought out of it! It is surely something to continually deal with, isn't it? But human defense kicks in when someone attacks something or someone I believe in. It's like some people constantly can put you down, daring you to judge them. It happens in relationships too. Human nature really.

I certainly do.

I judge people when they are dishonest, dangerous, a threat to other living things, aggressive, sex-offenders, wife-beaters, child-abusers etc.

Yes I 'form an opinion' of these people (judge), and I often deliberate that they are not worthy.

How many times do we wish that the Germans had judged Hitler. Or even many of the allies, before the war.

sadly, yes. It's hard not to, though it is wrong to judge. God is our judge, not us. I tend to pray for others more than I judge, I don't wanna go there. But i have judged, i can't lie. I am open to views of others. God created us in his image and to go out into the world and spread the Word. I live by his Word as best as I can. We all stumble, but the great thing is, God knows if our heart is pure or not, and we have forgiveness for He knew we would need it. God Bless.

Are we not confusing 'judgment' with 'views and beliefs'? Because we do not agree does do not mean we are judging. We simply say something like 'I think you are wrong' or 'you are wrong'. Then state our view as we understand whatever book we choose to accept as relaying the truth.
It is not judgment.

If one whole heartily believes another person is on the wrong path, isn't it not our responsibility to state our case for their misconception?

Would we sit back and watch someone justify use of deadly drugs and not try to stop them? Eternal life far out weighs even self destruction.

Nope, I never judge others. I am a walking construct that is perfectly objective and without opinions of any sort.

That quote actually sounds a bit ridiculous. You can't judge someone if you love them??? The people we judge the MOST are typically the people we love. (our spouse, our children, our parents, etc).

what does it mean to judge others? I don't really know...is it that you pre-determine what they're like before giving them a chance? or is it that you think they're bad or this & that?
I think it's the latter...if that be the case some people here are that way & they deserve to be judged...!
the rest, then if we do that that's not very nice & when we judge others the first person who suffers is ourselves & we start to get bothered becos people are the way they are & we can't do anything about that...so it makes sense not to judge....
