But what if his body had fully decomposed say over a year? And he was resurrected after a year instead of 3 days, would he still have had those scars on him?

If we are resurrected, would our resurrected bodies also bear the scars of our former life?

you are speculating over something that never would happen, since he fulfilled prophecy by rising to life the 3rd day. maybe a better question would be "does he still bear the scars for our sins today" and the answer would probably be yes....

I think the 1st Resurrection is complete on the 3rd age also. Jesus is the Resurrrection & the Life. So also all who believe in Him & are redeemed are also part of the 1st Resurrection. I believe that when the Word of God is preached & published in all nations, then the end shall be. So? Then the 'rapture', then the beast & false prophet, etc... Then those who are beheaded for Christ righteousness sake will also be part of the 1st Resurrection. Like the 1st Resurrection is a period of time that started when Jesus raised from the dead, & the souls/spirits of the Old Testament raised up to the 3rd heaven. So when we die our soul/spirit go to heaven to be with the Lord. But our bodies are still in the ground. At the 'rapture' our bodies will raise up whole (body, soul & spirit) everlasting & then those who are martyred during the tribulation will also be resurrected physically. Then Jesus comes back with His Saints to toss the beast & false prophet into the lake of fire & the devils in the abyss and to rule & reign the Age of Christ. My question is? Is this the 3rd day now? 1-1000 is 1 day. 1000-2000 is 2 day. 2000-3000 is 3 day. Did Jesus raise up early the 3rd day? Matthew26 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the Passover, & the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. 17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus saying to him. Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover. The evening of the preparation of the passsover... Then the Last Supper. And then to the mount of Olives. Then to Gethsemane... Then the cross. (The same evening.) So also is the 7 day feast that is a week Sabbath around Passover. So? We know that the ladies went to the tomb after the Sabbath at the first of the week. So? I don't know if that is after the feast 7 week Sabbath or the Passover weekend. Is Passover always on a weekend? Jesus had said that he is able to destroy the temple & build it in 3 days. Jesus earlier had said that like Jonah was in the whales belly 3 days & 3 nights, so will Jesus be in the heart of the earth. So? Jesus was crucified on April3,33 AD. And He was to be put in the tomb before the Passover & Sabbath. Anyway, To get exact times, will take bible study time. But the ladies went to the empty tomb early, at sunrise (Matthew28:1), the 1st of the week. The sunrise was when the ladies went to the tomb. I have in the past assumed Jesus raised early the 3rd day. And possibly the 1st Resurrection will be complete early the 3rd Millinnium. Still thinking. This must have been Thursday night. Jesus was on the cross Friday. And there was an eclipse & a blood moon. So? Does that count as a night? It was most certainly a dark & dreary day. Thursday night Jesus goes through things, but is on the cross Friday. There is an eclipse & blood moon. Before the evening of the Passover Jesus is taken off the cross. Then the ladies come at the sunrise at the 1st of the week. Whether that is after the feast of unleavened bread (1week Sabbath) or not, I just don't know.

Jesus dead body was not permitted to decay, and it was resurrected with those marks for a specific reason.

Our bodies will fully decompose once we are through with them, and we will never see them again.

Come Judgment Day, those alive at the moment will instantly be changed, and everyone who had already died will get brand new resurrection bodies matched to their individual human souls.

When he returned it was in his transfigured resurrected body. And he still bore the wounds that were not for him, but for us. He still bears the proof of the price that he paid to bear our sins.

God could have made him appear any way that he wanted to, and He chose to give the disciples physical and visual proof that this is the resurrected Lord that has overcome death. And what a life changing event that was for everyone who witnessed Him.

And the amazing thing to me is that it is still a life changing event for people today. Thank you God!

from a medical standpoint, if a corpse is exhumed after a year without being embalmed, then some trace evidence would still be there , marks on bones etc.but decomposition would be extrema and very difficult top pinpoint any specific non general injuries, a TX screen would reveal higher levels of co2 in lung tissue , hinting at suffocation along with the wound in his side.In my opinion in an uncontrolled and rapid rate of decomposition, there would still be visible signs, but decay would wrack havoc upon the corpse.full decomposition in a drier region occurs slower.there is really no yes or no answer to this question, it would lead me to wager this guess though.the larger and smaller transverse and inverse flex or tendons would still be intact albeit dried out severely, so i would have to say some visible marks could be found.

And what would this "What if" prove? After three days, he would still have wounds not scars. Scars would indicated that the body was healing and therefore not dead...

Although if you accept resurrection, you'd have to accept that the body decomposition was reversed...

That is a hypothetical question. The Bible clearly states, "because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay."(Ps. 16:10)

Sure those marks could be healed by Someone who had the power to resurrect but those marks will remain throughout eternity as a reminder to the problem of sin and what it took to remedy it.

That is a silly question, becasue it is purely hypothetical.

The real question is why did he not have the scars on his wrists and ankles? Considering that that is where the nails went when the Romans crucified people.

It seems a bit daft to have the power to rise from death but lack the ability to heal a couple of puncture wounds.
