i want to study egyptology and hopefully get a career in this subject. i am a full time mum of 2 younge children and currently recieve benefits. is there a way of me studying this at home by doing a course on-line that is not too expensive? any help/guidence would be greatly appricated.

I'm not sure about on-line courses but I would recommend that you try to get to SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), in London. Have a chat with their advisors as they will have the best knowledge of the routes available for this type of course. Try the link below and see what you think of the course available. If you are interested but don't live in London, phone SOAS and ask if they have any associations with colleges / Unis in your area. As for finance, if you study at a Uni, you will be able to get all fees paid and claim an extra Allowance (which is not repayable (grant)) for your kids. You may also get a bursary and may be able to apply for charitable funds. You can get all the information about funding from both the Student Advice Centre and the Student Union. The only other alternative is to see if there are any OU courses. However, for an OU course, you will have to pay all fees, all expenses (including materials and a couple of weeks away from home) and all exam fees. I hope that helps and Good Luck!
