There are so many answers to that question that it would take a book to cover them all… Russia is arming Syria and Iran (less obviously) just like we armed and trained the Taliban in Afghanistan to counter the Soviets there. Iran is messing in the north and everywhere else… Inject a little Muslim Brotherhood/al-Qaeda to make it interesting… It’s all messed up over there…

Al-Quieda in Iraq now kills indescriminatly. Our millitary even got help rousting al-quieda from northern Iraq by sunni militants.
