Find someone who's cast netting and offer them a few bucks for some mullet if they're after bait-size... that way you're sure to "match the hatch" as they say. Other than that, I can't help much, don't fish melbourne too often.

Generally, most bait & tackle stores don't carry live Mullet or Pogeys/Menhaden because it is very tough to keep them alive in captivity.

Gimmenamenow has a good gambit for getting live mullet!

OR you can purchase a 6-8 FT cast-net and learn to cast it!

If I had to give a novice FLA fisherman/woman some good advice, the #1 thing I would suggest is to learn how to cast a cast-net. You just can't beat fresh, live, finger mullet & pogeys for bait! Some guide-fishermen won't even take you out til they have a live-well full of "good" bait!

Anyway, Good luck & Tight Lines!
