Most Christians say that homosexuality is a sin. No one is hunting homosexuals. Actually our, mostly Christian government, has passed laws that homosexuals can not be discriminated against.
Don't ask, don't tell was a policy introduced by a Christian President, Bill Clinton.
If homosexuals would just leave their "victim status" behind, they would see that they are not victims of anything. Most homosexuals are good citizens and don't demand that everyone except their lifestyle. The ones that claim to be victims, are just that, claiming to be victims. And they seem to think that if they yell enough about it, they can change the Christians mind. That ain't goin' to happen.
Btw, Why do you think Rosie O'Donnell is so outspoken? She wants her behavior to be in the new set of morals that she wishes to insert into Christianity. It ain't goin' to happen.

Actually, you need to learn a little more about those witch hunts. The church got to confiscate all the land and property of those condemned witches. There was a LOT of money to be made by persecuting people. Carl Sagan outlines how the whole scam worked in his book "The Demon-Haunted World".
As someone much wiser than myself once said: if you want to know the real reasons for people's actions, FOLLOW THE MONEY; and when they insist it's not about the money, it's ALWAYS about the money.

Excuse me, I'm a Christian and I sure don't search for a scapegoat for my problems. I do know, however, (hedgewitch,) God does give me the answers for everything. You should try it, you just my like it. Open your heart to hearing His word and He will help you with your probs., even when you are feeling persecuted. Pretty nifty how Everyone on here, if you are not christian, WANT TO BLAME CHRISTIANS FOR EVERYTHING. Talk about being judgmental, sweep off your own porch first! And no matter what you may say, any would be welcome in my home and in my heart! As you are.

I agree with you to a certain extent, but for the most venom from the Christian right, try telling anyone that you are an atheist.
For such a loving and accommodating faith, the fundamentalists and evangelicals seem to have a real problem with
gays
jews
atheists
women in positions of power
muslims
pacifists
democrats
French people
All of whom I would MUCH rather spend a weekend with than a right wing fundamentalist.

If I made an anti gay slur I feel that you would judge me harshly for it. You just made a statement that is extremely discriminatory against me and people who share my beliefs. I disagree with you though. Not only do I not blame all the worlds problems on gay (or same sex attracted (SSA)) people and advocate in their favour. I love people for who they are and give the benefit of the doubt to others probably more than they deserve but I have a great love for many people; some gay, and only 1 (my wife) is sexual. Please do more research into an area that you wish to form an opinion on before making such statements. Especially since you spread hate and undermine the acceptance of many SSA people and groups and the efforts they employ to integrate themselves AND (not into) the community.
May God guide you in your life.

Men were killed too you know!!! *whiney voice*
It's not just Christians who have scapegoats...but everyone has one..the government, the Jews and Muslims(basically blaming each other)
But what witches were then and what gays are now aren't scape goats...their targets of persecution...big difference....

Yes. Jesus came and told us the most important thing is to love one another.
That's hard to do sometimes, because it means swallowing your pride and giving up the wrong things your parents taught you, etc.
Since it is hard, there is a whole batch of people out there who call themselves Christians who nevertheless, have to have somebody to hate in Jesus's name to make themselves feel superior. These are called fundamentalists.
Fundamentalists hate in Jesus's name. They use double-speak, like "Hate the sin, love the sinner," which they think gives them license to hate people under the banner of love -- it gets ridiculous.
But not all Christians are like that. Some are willing to do the hard spiritual and psychological work required of loving each other. I believe they will win out over ignorance in the end.
If and when gay people can't be fundamentalists' scapegoats any more, they'll find somebody else to hate: little people, or men with facial hair, or vegetarians or somebody. It's just their nature.

As a Christian I have never needed a scapegoat.
I am responsible for my own actions. I know that the devil influences people to do selfish things.
I cannot blame someone for what I choose to do. I do my best to base my decisions on God's word the Bible. Each of us answer for ourselves, and no one else.
There will always be sinners in the world. That is not my fault and I do my best not to let them influence me. The purpose of being a Christian is not to condemn people, but to try and get them to see that God is love. Hopefully they will become followers of God's son, Jesus. God gave Jesus authority to judge. So I do my best to love my enemies and hopefully through my actions, they will come to love God.
Unfortunately, your opinion has been based on what you have observed by hypocritical "Christians." Based on their deeds, most people think God is cruel. This is a lie Satan has spread using hypocritical followers. Anyone that studies the Bible can see that they follow Satan, and the sad part is that they do not even realize it. Even Jesus told the Jews the same thing. They were hypocrites and not followers of God. If they were followers, they would have known who Jesus was.
Here are some scriptures that validate what I have written.
2 Peter 3:9 God is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.
Ezekiel 33:11 Say to them, ‘“As I am alive,” is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, “I take delight, not in the death of the wicked one, but in that someone wicked turns back from his way and actually keeps living.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, Â among whom the god of this system of things (Satan) has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through
Mathew 7:21-23 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’Â And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness.

Basically uneducated people fear that which they don't understand. That's how it was with witches and how it is now with Muslims and Gay men and women. Somebody told Christians that they have all the answers and Christians believe it.
