To me, this is one of the deal breakers between real Christians and pseudoChristians.
A true, follower of Christ will say: Love everybody in the world. Yes, it can be done as a willful decision to recognize every person you meet as your brother/sister in Christ.
A pseudoChristian will tell you Jesus only meant to love other believers. They'll say you can be as mean and hateful as you want to non-believers, so go ahead and beat them over the head with your KJV.

Do you know the story of the good samaritan? This badly hurt man was left in a ditch to die, and several supposedly religious men passed by, one on the other side of the road just as to pretend not to see him. Finally a hated samaritan went by and took him to an Inn to be cared for. He paid what he thought would be enough to nurse the man, and told the Inn Keeper that if this unknown man needed more to give it to him, and the samaritian would pay for that on his way back through. In other words,
The most important commandment according to Christ was: To love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might, and to love your neighbor as you love yourself. With this commandment I do not believe one can violate any other commandment.
The first story is an example that anyone is our neighbor, and the second is that we need to love our neighbor, (everyone).
Hope that helped
Blessed Be neighbor

Love one another means to love other believers. However Jesus also told us to love our enemies. The Greek word agape that is translated into English as "love" is not about a feeling, it is about a choice. It is not a love that is based upon the object of that love, it is based upon a believer obeying God and choosing to show His love to others even when it is difficult and/or inconvenient.
1 Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Philippians 2:3 Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Bible does a great job of explaining itself, lets look at the verse in context. John 13: 33-35, reading this scripture indicates that Jesus was talking to His disciples, therefore this commandment is for the disciples to love one another.

Come on people now, smile on your brother. Try to love one another right now. However, it is difficult to love those who take pleasure in murdering innocent civilians in Iraq, in America (9/11), in Afghanistan, in Africa, in India and so many more nations that the Islamic extremists have penetrated. They are like a rabid and deadly virus, slowly spreading over the entire earth.

"Love one another." There are no qualifications in that statement. It means to love everyone. That does not imply, however, that one should be weak and unassertive, or a victim. Love is faith in action. To be just as concerned with the well-being of the world as you are with your own THAT is love.

To love someone who loves you back is not really a sacrafice or a testament to the Lord Jesus Christ. In other words that's easy, anyone can do that. The hard part is to love those, that don't like you, or worse yet hate you. Now that is Christ's love.

Everything and everyone belong....
"Love commands the universe. Man only resorts to control when love is missing. In a world obsessed with control, it is difficult to find even a moment's peace."
"Everything and everyone belong. Bless them, respect them, and forgive if necessary."

Why do people complicate things.
I dont know what NOT to understand: Love one another.
God dont want us to live with hate in our hearts. He is the God of Love. Why would he only let us love believers, Who would rescue the others. He wants us to work for Him.
He made every one, and He want every-one to be with Him one-day

God created everyone and He means for us to love everyone. I was once told to love someone doesn 't mean you have to like them or like being with them it means to want the best for them. That made it easier for me. I think we all have people we don't like too well, and it might be best to avoid them if it only causes sinful hate. It works for me. i am polite to them but don't engage with them a lot.
