How do you handle passages like the following? They both clearly point out that you should put your kids to death.

For those that pick and choose what do you base your choices on?

Deuteronomy 21:18-21. If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son.........stone him with stones, that he die

To those that will say thats the old testament and Jesus removed those practices I point you to.

Mark 7:9-10 Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:

Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the earth. We are to train our children to be righteous in the eyes of God. Disobeying our parents is a sin against God. Disobeying authority of any kind is also a sin against God. In the O.T. God had to be stricter with His people. In the N.T. we are able to view more aspects of God and He comes to us with complete love. Not as harsh, but just as strict.

Mark 7:10 quoted the Old Testament, the law that was given to Moses . So it is not part of the truth and grace of the New Covenant that come through Jesus Christ. Under the New Covenant God does not punish any Christian for any of his sins because Jesus had took the punishment for them on the cross. There is judgment under the law but forgiveness under grace and truth. So all judgment under the law by God is done away with for Christians.

What part of this do you not understand? If you would simple read the text in the context of what it is saying along with fundamental teaching of the bible this would not be so confusing to you. Lets try it one more time then maybe you will get it.

If a parent has a child who is clearly screwed up, A child that behaves as described, then yes it is better for that child to die. Some examples are:

The two monsters at Columbine High School,
The monster at Virginia Tech.
The monster at Puduka Kentucky.

Maybe if you spent a little time reading the WHOLE book instead of as you say "picking and choosing" you mind have come across this one.

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

You quote Mark but you don't let on to the fact that while that phrase was included in the quote Jesus gave to the 'hypocrites' his point was about the material support given by children to their aging parents.

Jesus didn't even touch on the point you bring up. Thus the fact that it occurs in the NT does not invalidate that the Law Covenant does not apply to Christians.

Be nice.

The laws you are referring to where part of a culture 2000 years ago, man has hopefully evolved past the point and has gained knowledge since those days...many arab and islamic countries still are stuck in the past.....

do you even comprehend what is referred to in those verses?? the whole verse and not the short, out of context item??

do you still drive the traffic laws of the early 1900's where you can only go 5 mph and must put a red flag on the front of your vehicle......

we base our choices on the whole word of God..the thought and meaning, the heart of the word....

one who spends their time nit-picking at the word of God will never find the fruit....

That was under the law given to Moses, Jesus fulfilled the law and now we are under the grace of Christ who has redeemed us from the law.
