And they're adults, too. It wouldn't be so bad if only children though that this book was non-fiction, but even the president of the most powerful country in the world thinks the book is true. This always makes me lose hope in humanity when I think of this.

How can a book with talking animals in it be credible? Because it is not just any book and large sections of it have been shown to be highly accurate as verified by history, archaeology and numerous prophecies that subsequently came true.
That alone is good reason to trust the parts of the Bible that we have not as yet found independant confirmation of.
Secondly, Jesus said the Bible was accurate, and we have the accounts of eye-witnesses that Jesus had supernatural powers of healing, could command the forces of nature and could predict the future. Even a Harvard Law Professor is on record as saying those witness statements would stand up in the US Supreme Court.
Those like you who mock and laugh either haven't carefully studied the overwhelming weight of evidence or simply don't understand the significance of the evidence.
Critics of the Bible claim that it says that a snake came to Eve and had a conversation with her to tempt her to eat the forbidden fruit. However, the Bible describes that this "snake" was none other than Satan, who, being a supernatural being, took on the form of an animal.
As such, this event is clearly a description of a supernatural, rather than a naturalistic event. Another example is when a donkey talked to Balaam. However, the passage clearly states that it was God who caused the donkey to talk. This, likewise was a supernatural event.
Whether God physically made a donkey talk or whether he just caused Balaam to think the donkey was speaking, we simply don't know, but to me the second seems more likely, although either would be kindergarten stuff to the amazing force and intelligence who created life and the Universe!

My hyper-active, large, black lab, mixed-breed dog talks to our family everyday many times ! Examples: WOOF WOOF ! YIP YIP ! GRRRRR ! I have the scars on my arms to prove it. Ha ha Animals and birds and some bugs do talk in their own languages. Soon some liberal colleges might offer "Comprehending Cricket Chirp 101" :))
On the Bible: There are two types of human fools: Those who believe ZERO percent of the 66 books and those who believe 100% of every word, phrase and sentence in all of it.
Most Humans who are both spiritual and intellectual are exclectic exegetes -- "cafeteria Christians" -- in full, God-given spiritual liberty to know what is True and Abiding and false and temporal. Over the last thirty plus years as a Theologian and Jesusonian Evangelist, I choose to share and teach from only about the best 1% of the "Old Testament" and about 15% of the (less old) "New Testament", and so on with ever continuing Epochal Revelation and personal God-consciousness in Jesus Christ fully here now as He the Spirit of ALL Truth. See John 16:7-16 (all very True and important)
Peace and progress,
Brother Dave, a Jesusonian Christian Truthist

OF JESUS and ABOUT JESUS and IN JESUS
Come and share !

You have one donkey speak one time and you find the rest of the Book unbelievable? What if I were to form a complete hypothesis about you just because of your name? There is a lot more to God than just a donkey speaking one thing! Read the Book for yourself and see if it doesn't change your life.

They happened because they were miracles. Anyone who believes in God knows that God can do anything. If you can't grasp the concept of God, then of course you're not going to be able to understand how miracles work.
