are there adapters for DVI outputs so that a monitor what only supports VGA receive it?

There are two versions of DVI
a) DVI analog. For that, you can easily get a VGA to DVI adaptor

b) DVI digital; For that, a VGA to DVI adaptor will NOT work.
Digital TVs usually accept only digital DVI.

VGA is analog and DVI is digital. Basically all you need to know is that DVI is much better.

HDMI and DVI are on the same quality level but HDMI also has the ability to transfer sound as well.
