I think it is an innate instinct among humans as a sign of affection for each other.It had been around since the beginning of time, so Adam & Eve.

i never saw any one giving a mouth kiss, but when i first kissed my girl it came all by itself.
Probably the same is the case with al humans until these movies started showing mouth kisses.

There are several if not many theories. The most likely candidates are either it developed from passing chewed food to infants or that it developed from tasting a potential mates saliva to see if they were healthy.
