A true believer is desirous, not only to be in covenant with God, but in communion with the people of God; and is willing to fare as they fare. By her works Rahab declared herself to be just. That she was not justified by her works appears plainly; because the work she did was faulty in the manner, and not perfectly good,

When Rahab helped the Hebrew spies who had come into Jericho she demonstrated her faith in the God of Heaven and God counted her faith as righteousness just as He does our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Rather than trusting in the walls of Jericho and staying with her people she trusted in God and joined His people.

Rahab's work was faulty because 1) she lied which is a sin and 2) no amount of good works on our part can atone for the sins that we have already committed.
